‘Secrets of Successful Selling’ reviewed

January 12, 2010

When: BScene Week 7 – Tuesday, December 1, 2009 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Westwerks.

Host: David Foster

David Foster of Brighton-based David Foster Associates Limited who specialise in Sales and Management Training came along to Westwerks and gave an entertaining and insightful workshop on the secrets of selling.

The workshop involved role-playing and discussion as we looked at our previous experiences of selling, successes and failures and learned how we could improve business with a few relatively simple techniques. We looked at how to get out there with confidence and get more clients, sell more stuff, raise our profile and covered the following

  • Asking for referrals
  • Being proud of your price and be able to say why they why it’s worth the extra cost
  • How to encourage ‘maybe’ customers
  • Doing promotions during quiet periods
  • Work out your ‘pitch’ … make it is succinct
  • How to ‘sell ice to Eskimos’, in a way that is genuinely useful to them!
  • Seeing what you do as helping other people

Feedback from participants who attended:

“A good push”  Sibel
“Really informative and inspiring.  Highly recommended.”  Libby
“Very useful, fun and friendly!” Philip
“I’ve learned how important it is to build relationships and asked for referrals existing customers.” Daryl
